About Me

The Heart and Science of Literacy

I know exactly what it’s like to sit at the kitchen table with a child who is frustrated, exhausted, and feeling left behind. As a mother of six and grandmother of two, I have lived the "fight" to find the right help for my own children with dyslexia. I even spent several years homeschooling my own children, giving me a deep appreciation for the dedication it takes to be a child's primary educator—and the relief that comes when you find the right professional partner.

Professional Expertise

I am an advocate for the Science of Reading because I’ve seen it work when nothing else did. My approach is rooted in evidence-based instruction and over six years of experience as a 2nd and 3rd-grade teacher.

  • Neurodiversity-Affirming: I have extensive experience working with neurodivergent children. I understand that literacy isn't just about phonics; it’s about supporting the "whole child," including those with ADHD, Autism, and other unique learning profiles.

  • Advanced Education: B.S. in Elementary Education and a Master’s in Learning and Technology.

  • Specialized Training: I am LETRS trained and highly experienced in the Orton-Gillingham approach and the Barton Reading & Spelling System.

  • Targeted Intervention: I utilize proven tools like the Barton Reading and Spelling System and the  95% Group curriculum to close specific literacy gaps.

  • Diverse Learners: With an ESL endorsement, I am uniquely equipped to support students from all backgrounds, ensuring language is never a barrier to success.

My Philosophy

Reading is a right, not a privilege. Whether I am working with a student who is just starting to decode or a family navigating a new dyslexia diagnosis, I bring a blend of classroom precisionhomeschool flexibility, and a nurturer’s empathy to every session. I don't just teach reading; I help neurodivergent learners discover their own strengths and build the confidence they need to thrive.
